It was a good chance upon to The Winery, a spanish restaurant, situated in Chijmes.
They had daily happy hours from 5pm – 8pm, $4 off all alcohol by the glass. Their alcohol were priced reasonably and with the happy hour promotions, it’s quite a steal. Their cocktails were made right too, they dont stinge on the quality. I had a glass of their Sherry Jerry ($16), made of rum, sweet sherry and passionfruit. It has a good balance between bold strong flavors with a little sweet and citrusy at the back.
Pan Con Tomate (4pcs for $8), freshly grated tomatoes on crystal bread. As simple as it look, but the taste is almost superb. You could tell it’s really the fresh tomatoes and none of those canned or overly sweetened kind. The bread was really crispy too.
Patatas Bravas ($10), crispy layered agria potatoes with signature spicy bravas sauce and parsley aioli. Quite an interesting taste, it kind of taste in between hashbrown and potato chips. I would say it’s a pretty good snacks to go with drinks.
Mushroom Croquetas (2 pcs for $6) is da bomb among all of the tapas! It’s breaded fritters with mixed mushrooms, bechamel sauce & quince puree. It’s filled with bits of mushroom, so creamy, chunky and flavorful.
Sizzling Grass Fed Striploin (150grams for $32) has a very straightforward and clean tasting flavor. You could taste the tenderness of the striploin with a good balance of sweetness from caramelized onion and savoriness from the brown sauce.
Squid Ink Paella ($24) has a very seafood-y flavor to it, and a little creaminess. Like how the prawns and clams are sweet and juicy, not overcooked.
The Winery make a nice place for after work drinks with nice tapas to go with, and delicious mains to go for!
