A quaint little Eleven Strands cafe has took over the defunct Kombi Rock Diner. It’s much more crowded and bustling than before. In contrast to Kombi Rock Diner, the interior of Eleven Strands is revitalized with clean and simple touches.
Their menu includes their specialty – Pasta and additionally classic mains ranging from Pork Chops, Pork Ribs, Grilled Fish, Beef Cheeks etc.
We ordered their Truffle Konbu Fries ($15) to share. From faraway we could smell the truffle and what makes it better was the accompanying truffle mayo. Fries were served piping hot with the little crisp on the outside.
We ordered the Prawn Basil Pesto Pasta ($23) and Grilled Pork Chop ($24) to share. Loved the intensity of the basil pesto sauce, it was very creamy and herby. While the grilled pork chop was surprisingly tender despite how it looked. I was initially still afraid it might be too tough, but the texture was about right. Kind of firm yet tender with a little juiciness to it. Good contrast to the tangy sauce and mash which was smooth and velvety.
It is kind of a nice quaint quiet cafe which I would return again to try out their other pasta dishes or even the beef cheeks that are highly raved about!
