12 Foods to try in Bangkok

In my recent yet not so recent trip to Bangkok, sometime in early Nov, went and explored many more new food places! Some of you may have heard of it, some of you may not! But these are really worth the try! Or minimally you know where are the good food hunts in the Pratunam area! It was my first time to most of these food places too although it’s not my first trip to Bangkok as I’m someone who prefer trying new stuff which may bring me new surprises in return rather than the old safe options!

Here’s the list of food place for your keepsake!

1. Tawadang German Brewery
(462/61 Rama 3 Road, Bangkok)
It’s a pretty good night out place to go for some beer, thai food and performance. I guess what make this place special is the accompanying performance. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nothing dirty, it’s all clean with dances and songs and the performers all dressed up glamorously.

2. Wanton Mee at the alley Opposite Shibuya
(Phetchaburi 22 Alley)
It may not be the best tasting wanton mee neither like the famous Sab Sab Wanton Mee, but it is made simply and light with a taste of home and generously filled with ingredients.

3. Ban Khun Mae (Siam Square)
(458/6-9 Siam Square Soi 8, Rama 1 Road, Patumwan District, Bangkok 10330)
Like a Thai Zi Char place with variety but air-conditioned. Personally i like 2 of its dishes the most – the Steam Fish and Pandan Chicken. Steam fish was very fresh, sweet and meaty with a tingling spiciness sauce; while Pandan Chicken was tender and aromatic. It’s a good alternative to Som Tam if you’re lazy to queue for it.

4. Joke Merd Pho Paradise
(Srinagarindra Rd – Soi Muban Seri Villa, Khwaeng Nong Bon, Khet Prawet, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10250)
The best porridge i ever have! Porridge was cooked in a claypot, served piping hot with the grains as fine and soft. If you like Tom Yum, you must definitely go for their Tom Yum base porridge, be it River Prawn or Seafood it’s equally good! Of course, River Prawn will be more instagram worthy! Although it is located abit far from the city, but it is near the original Train Market – Rod Fai Train Night Market (Hipster place with hipster food and live band!), so you can drop by easily after your dinner!

5. Phan Khom Thai Cuisine @ Central World
(999/9 999/9 Rama 1 Road Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330)
I was looking for Kum Poon but couldn’t find it and stumbled into Phan Khom instead. Conveniently located in Central World and what makes it better, is the connection of SkyWalk from Pratunam Area to Central World. Prices were reasonable and portion are generous too! Their Green Curry is superb! Thick and aromatic. Next worth trying is their Deep Fried Fish! Go for the curry flavored for a more unique experience.

6. Happy Cheese Toast
(Look out for them in any pop-up night market!)
Definitely need no introduction to these rainbow cheese toast. I guess beside it being gram-worthy, the toast was not too bad tasting too as it finishes with a buttery touch.

7.Small Pineapple
(Find them in the night market!)
One word. SWEET! You got to try is yourself!

8. Pork Knuckle Rice (Khao Kha Moo Trung Sung)
(Soi Phetchaburi 30, Khwaeng Lumphini, Khet Pathum Wan, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10330)
You might think that having rice for breakfast may be a bit too heavy, but if you don’t try, you’ll regret! The pork knuckle was braised to perfection, tender and flavorful. If you’re someone who eat the pig intestines, then you definitely has to add it on! It was cleaned thoroughly with no lingering smell and has the chewy springy taste. Not only will it be a good treat to your stomach, so will it be for your wallet!

9. Food Snack at Night Market/Pop up Market
I’m pretty sure this doesn’t requires any more recommendation! Every night market has that food that catches your eyes! Just go with your heart and cravings!

10. Extra Large Chicken Rice
(near Big C Saphan Kwai at 1511/71-74 Soi Rongnang, Phaon Yothin Road, 10-15mins from Chatuchak Market)
YOLO time! When eating one plate of Chicken Rice is too boring for you and you decided to be adventurous and challenge yourself like those Food Competitions, look no further. For just 500Baht, you can probably get a portion which easily feed 10 or more!

11. Sulbing
(At the food court at the top of Plantinum Mall)
Well, you don’t have to travel all the way to Korea to have bingsu now. You can have it in Bangkok too! Not only were the ice so fine, it was kind of milky flavored too! Good pitstop while shopping!

12. Kyo Roll En @ Central World
(At the top level where all the food are!)
They are known for their swiss roll and matcha flavored soft serve! Their swiss roll is oh so light and fluffy while their matcha flavored was intense yet not at all powdery! Perfect for your after meal desserts!

Now you’re all ready to start your Bangkok trip with a feast!
