Together with the National Gallery, stood a contemporary cafeteria + retail store at a corner near the Gallery’s entrance. A clean and neatly designed cafe featuring healthy mix grain bowls and local delights with a fusion twist.
Otak Otak Taco ($17). Interesting fusion of mexican with asian delights. Instead of the usual marinated chicken, prawn or fish as the ingredients wrapped within the taco wrap, it reveals a golden triangle otah which was lightly battered. A little crisp on the outside encapsulating a warm fiery soft otah filled with fragrance of fish meat and spices. Tingling your tastebud with a little kick and refreshes it with a dollop of sweet corn and pomegranate. A pretty good dish which can be made better if the taco skin wrap itself was served warmer.
Lemongrass Ribs ($18). Another praise worthy item. Well marinated and fried to crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The juiciness and moistness of meat simply keep you going. The tenderness of the meat, allows you to de-bone it with ease.
Slow cooked pork belly glazed with garlic soy sauce and bell pepper relish ($25). What i liked most about this dish is the healthy mix of grains with that additional touch of chewiness. Not only that, though pork belly is used, it is the least fatty pork belly I have came across and not at all greasy.
A cozy and laid-back cafe for a good pit stop to refuel your stomach with healthy bites!
