We made a reservation for 3 to celebrate my mum birthday at Marmalade Pantry. Something different this year from the usual Chinese cuisine we will have usually. We went to the branch at ION, easily accessible by train, just stop at orchard station. Being on a Saturday, it is filled with people. Marmalade pantry had a open dining concept in the middle of the mall with its kitchen separate at the other corner. They have a variety of choices from salad to sandwiches to mains, to dessert and on weekends they do have a all day breakfast menu too.
& so we ordered Seared scallop and prawn pasta ($25), Crispy pork belly ($32) and Truffled field mushroom risotto ($24). Seared scallop and prawn pasta was cooked in prawn bisque base. The base is rich in taste and flavour which is just alright with the pasta but if you were to taste the sauce alone it may be a tad too salty. The linguine was just done al dente too. The prawns and scallop were big and fresh. Crispy pork belly on the other hand, i feel that its not worth the price. The two strips of pork belly for $32 is actually quite misery, the skin is not that crispy as compare to the crackling roast pork at The New Habour Cafe & Bar. Neither is it that good and tasty. The whole mouth feel is not there. Quite a disappointing dish in my opinion. Truffled field mushroom risotto was quite alright. It was light and has the herb flavour. Despite being named as truffled field mushroom, i couldnt really detect any trace of the truffle oil be it the aroma or the flavour. But nevertheless, it still has the saucey, creamy texture of a risotto and flavour of mushroom due to the slices of them when consume together!
